10 Brand Activation Examples Worth Studying

A brand activation is a designed, live experience that turns brand strategy into direct audience engagement, whether that happens on a trade show floor, inside an owned space, or across digital channels. The strongest brand activation examples start with a defined objective, and the strategy, design and execution  follows from there.

Our team at Exhibitus has designed and built activations for more than 30 years, and the 10 campaigns below come from that work, spanning trade shows, live events, digital programs, and branded environments. Each one is named, documented, and tied to an outcome its team could measure.

1.   Toshiba’s Create Your Tomorrow at NRF 2025

At the 2025 NRF Big Show, Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions launched “Create Your Tomorrow,” a campaign positioning technology adoption as forward momentum for retailers. The exhibit had to express the campaign theme from the floor up rather than overlay it on a product display.

As Toshiba’s exhibit partner across more than a decade of NRF programs, we built the campaign into the environment itself. Lifestyle visuals, interactive stations featuring the MxP Vision Kiosk and TCx 820 All-in-One POS, and a modular frictionless store experience let attendees move through a forward-looking retail environment instead of observing one from the aisle.

The program earned a Gold Stevie Award in the Brand Engagement Event category. An exhibit built to express a campaign sends attendees home with a story, and a long program relationship is what lets each year feel like a natural evolution of the last.

2. NAPA and Carlyle’s Built Different at SEMA 2025

At SEMA 2025, NAPA Auto Parts and Carlyle Tools introduced the Carlyle brand identity to one of the most product-literate audiences in the automotive aftermarket, while using the show as the setting for a motorsport partnership announcement.

We structured the program as a pit pass visitor journey. An outdoor activation showcased brand personality and product range, and an indoor experience followed with deeper product innovation content for serious buyers. The activation also served as the backdrop for the announcement of an expanded partnership with Ron Capps Motorsport, including Maddi Gordon joining the Carlyle dragster team. The full program is documented in our experiential work portfolio.

The sequential structure gave different audience types connected entry points into the same brand story, and the press announcement extended the campaign’s reach well past the show floor.

3. Snowflake’s Ski Chalet at HIMSS 2022

Snowflake exhibited at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society conference (HIMSS) in Orlando with two requirements. The exhibit had to feel approachable in an environment that defaults to clinical, and the build had to meet the company’s sustainability commitments through material choices.

The answer was a 20-by-40-foot alpine lodge built from exposed timber framing, snow-white tension fabric, and other recycled materials. Our designers removed two-thirds of the main wall on each side, which gave attendees multiple natural entry points rather than a single threshold to cross.

The exhibit earned a Bronze award in Exhibitor Magazine’s Exhibit Design Awards, with one judge noting the design does not read as a typical trade show booth. When spatial design carries a brand’s character on its own, attendees arrive already understanding something about the company before a conversation starts.

4. KNAPP at Modex 2022

KNAPP, a global provider of intelligent automation for intralogistics and manufacturing, came to Modex 2022 needing to explain complex warehouse software to buyers who work inside distribution centers every day.

We built the exhibit around three interactive demo stations featuring 3D-printed tabletop replicas of actual distribution centers. As a presenter explained how the software drives warehouse processes, LED lighting illuminated the relevant zones of each model, so the story played out in the audience’s own operational language. The space also allowed self-guided tours and one-to-one conversations with KNAPP representatives.

KNAPP earned an Honorable Mention in Exhibitor Magazine’s Excellent Element category, and over the two years that followed, the company’s brand awareness ranking moved from fifth in the industry to the top three. KNAPP attributed the shift to the exhibit strategy and to measuring performance show after show. A demo that shows the buyer’s world explains a product faster than a feature walkthrough.

5. Toshiba’s Path to Brilliant Commerce at NRF 2017

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions came to the National Retail Federation Big Show in 2017 with one objective, making a seamless retail customer experience tangible for buyers who had seen plenty of staged demonstrations.

Under the theme “The Path to Brilliant Commerce,” our team built three 20-foot interactive wall panels from raw wood. Conductive ink, screen-printed onto the wood and wired to a live circuit board, triggered sound and animation when attendees touched elements of each panel. Three retail customer journeys came to life on contact, and Toshiba representatives were positioned to continue the conversations the panels opened.

The program earned a Platinum Hermes Creative Award for Engagement Experience and a Bronze award in Exhibitor Magazine’s Exhibit Design Awards. Technology built into the material of the exhibit turns a product demonstration into something the attendee sets in motion themselves.

6. Snowflake at AWS re:Invent 2019

At AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas, Snowflake wanted to show how existing customers use its data platform to grow their own businesses, and the exhibit had to hold attention on one of the most crowded floors in cloud computing.

The centerpiece was an actual Formula One race car, offered to the program team through Red Bull. The car anchored the space and opened conversations about performance and data, while a wall of 64 LED tiles provided visual context and demonstration kiosks handled follow-up exploration. Our fabrication team routed all electrical cables from the ceiling to meet venue regulations without disrupting the design.

The exhibit earned a Platinum Hermes Creative Award. A focal point drawn from the audience’s own world earns attention a product display cannot, because it signals the brand understands who is in the room.

7. Hycor Biomedical’s Angry Allergens at AACC 2021

Hycor Biomedical had two spaces at AACC 2021, a small booth in a high-visibility central location and a larger exhibit in a lower-traffic section of the hall. The program needed the small booth to drive qualified traffic to the larger space where product conversations could happen.

We designed Angry Allergens, a game modeled on the Angry Birds format and playable at the smaller booth. Players finished a round, then went to the larger exhibit to collect a prize and check the leaderboard. Hycor’s product team was positioned there to meet each arrival.

The program earned a Platinum Hermes Creative Award for Interactive Engagement. Gamification performs when it has a structural purpose. The game had a destination, and the destination had a team ready to talk.

8. J.L. Marine’s Power-Pole at Bassmaster Classic 2021

As live events returned in 2021, J.L. Marine updated its Power-Pole presence at the Bassmaster Classic to introduce new wireless integration technologies to sport fishing enthusiasts and industry buyers who already knew the category well.

Our build used raised graphic platforms showing sport fishing above the standing platform and Power-Pole products deployed in the water below it, placing the product in its actual operating environment. Overhead signage in brand colors made the exhibit visible from across the floor.

The exhibit earned a Gold Hermes Creative Award. When an exhibit mirrors the setting where the product performs, the audience closes the gap between seeing it and understanding it on their own.

9. DiaSorin’s Virtual Tour at AACC 2021

AACC 2021 ran in both live and virtual formats, and DiaSorin needed to engage remote audiences while steering them toward the live exhibit and virtual sessions rather than away from them.

We built a virtual exhibit that organized DiaSorin’s full diagnostic testing portfolio as a navigable overview, previewed products in development, and integrated on-demand webinars on the science behind the company’s offerings. The digital brand activation extended the exhibit’s reach before the show opened and kept working after it closed.

The program earned a Gold Hermes Creative Award in the digital activation category. A digital experience designed alongside a physical program serves remote audiences, warms attendees before doors open, and re-engages everyone once the event ends.

10. Regal Cinema and LaVazza’s Lobby Kiosk Program

In 2019, Regal Cinema set out to turn its lobbies from transitional waiting spaces into deliberate brand moments, partnering with LaVazza coffee and B-Fresh smoothies and juices as premium food and beverage brands.

We designed and fabricated kiosks for both LaVazza and B-Fresh that brought each brand to life without competing with each other visually. The intent was for each kiosk to feel native to the cinema environment, as if it had always belonged in the space.

The program earned a Platinum Hermes Creative Award for Interactive Brand Experience. Brand activation does not require a trade show floor. Owned environments like lobbies, offices, and retail spaces become brand experiences when the design intent is deliberate and the brands sharing the space complement each other.

FAQ

What is a brand activation?

A brand activation is a designed, live experience that connects a brand directly with its audience at a trade show, live event, owned space, or digital touchpoint. Enterprise teams usually run activations as part of a larger brand activation strategy built to perform across multiple events and markets.

How do enterprise brands measure brand activation success?

Targets for leads, meetings, and brand awareness are set before the event, engagement data like badge scans and QR interactions is captured during it, and post-event reporting connects the results back to program goals.

What activation formats work best for B2B trade show programs?

Immersive environments, interactive demos, and campaign-driven exhibits perform consistently because each moves attendees from passive observation to active engagement. The right format depends on the audience, the objective, and the capacity to execute it reliably.

How does Exhibitus approach multi-event brand activation programs?

Exhibitus manages strategy, creative, fabrication, logistics, on-site execution, and measurement as one long-term experiential marketing partner, which removes the gaps that open when separate vendors each own a stage of the program.

What should enterprise teams budget for a trade show brand activation?

An activation program has many variables to consider. A single activation is different from the economies that can be recognized in a multi-event reuse program. The budget conversation is critical to ensure that both Exhibitus and the client understand the expectations and well as the constraints of a trade show budget.
